Ready to feel seen, heard, and supported?
Choosing the right support for your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey is a deeply personal decision. You may have questions about how doula support works, what to expect, the services I offer, and whether Of The Mountain Nurturing Services is the right fit for you.
I've gathered some of the most common questions below to help you feel informed, comfortable, and confident as you explore your options. And if you don't see your question answered, I'm always happy to connect and talk it through with you.
A birth doula provides continuous, non-medical emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. As your doula, I help you prepare for birth, understand your options, communicate your needs, and feel supported throughout your experience.
I also support your partner so they can feel confident and involved rather than feeling like they have to carry the entire experience alone.
There is no single "right" time to hire a doula. Many families choose to connect with their doula during the second trimester, while others reach out later in pregnancy.
The earlier we connect, the more time we have to build a relationship, prepare for birth, discuss your preferences, and establish the support you need. That said, if you're already well into your pregnancy, don't hesitate to reach out. There may be instances where I work with a partner doula to serve your birth.
If I have availability, I'd love to connect.
Yes. My goal is not to encourage one particular type of birth, but to support you in feeling informed, prepared, and empowered in whatever circumstances arise.
Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, considering an epidural, preparing for an induction, or navigating an unexpected change in plans, I provide compassionate support without judgment.
Yes. I offer supportive, individualized care for families planning a VBAC.
VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section) preparation can involve both practical and emotional preparation, including discussing your previous birth experience, exploring your options, building confidence, preparing coping strategies, and helping you feel informed as you enter your next birth.
Yes. I support families birthing in hospitals throughout my service area, including AdventHealth, Pardee, and Mission.
I provide non-medical support while working alongside your medical team and respecting the policies and practices of your chosen birth location.
Yes. I support families choosing home birth and birth center birth when the location falls within my service area.
I also support families who are planning a hospital birth. My role is to support your individual birth journey rather than promote one specific birth setting.
Absolutely! Your doula does not replace your partner.
I view your partner as an important part of your birth team. I help your partner understand how they can support you, offer suggestions for comfort measures, provide reassurance, and step in when they need a moment to rest. My goal is to help you both feel like a team.
No. Your body and your birth belong to you.
I provide information, encouragement, comfort measures, and support so you can make informed decisions that align with your values and circumstances. I do not make medical decisions for you or speak on your behalf unless you specifically ask for help communicating your needs.
No. A doula provides non-medical support and does not replace your doctor, midwife, or other medical providers.
Your medical team is responsible for clinical care, while I provide emotional, physical, and informational support.
Prenatal visits are an opportunity for us to get to know one another, talk through your hopes and concerns, prepare for labor, and build your personalized support plan.
Depending on your needs, we may discuss birth preferences, comfort measures, partner support, coping techniques, hospital preparation, communication, mindset, and postpartum planning.
Birth can be unpredictable, and sometimes circumstances change.
If your plans shift during pregnancy or labor, I will continue to support you without judgment. Whether you change your birth setting, decide on medication, have an induction, need a cesarean, or experience something completely unexpected, you deserve compassionate support throughout the process.
A postpartum doula provides non-medical support to the birthing parent, baby, and family during the transition into life with a newborn.
Support may include newborn care education, emotional support, feeding support, light household assistance, rest and recovery support, and helping you feel more confident as you navigate those early weeks.
You can reach out during pregnancy to plan ahead or contact me after your baby arrives if you find that you need additional support.
I recommend reaching out as early as possible if you already know you'd like postpartum support so we can discuss availability and create a plan that works for your family.

Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing a placenta and placing it into capsules for personal postpartum use.
Some families choose placenta encapsulation as part of their postpartum experience or personal ritual. Research on potential health benefits remains limited, and placenta products should not be considered a medical treatment.
Depending on availability, offerings may include:
Placenta prints
Cord keepsakes
Shadow boxes
Tinctures
Other personalized placenta artwork or keepsakes
Please contact me for current offerings and pricing.
